FXIFY News Trading: Which Accounts Let You Trade NFP & CPI?

FXIFY News trading

If you are looking at FXIFY specifically because you want to trade around CPI, NFP or other major economic releases, you need to be careful with one thing:

FXIFY does not have one universal news-trading rule across every program.

For the main 1 Phase, 2 Phase and 3 Phase accounts, FXIFY currently allows news trading without restriction.

But Lightning and the Instant Funding programs have specific news restrictions.

That means a trader searching:

"Does FXIFY allow news trading?"

can easily find the wrong answer if they do not first identify the program they are interested in.

The quick FXIFY news trading breakdown

1 Phase

2 Phase Standard

2 Phase Classic

3 Phase

Lightning

Restricted around high-impact news

Instant Funding

Restricted around high-impact news

Instant Funding Lite

Restricted around high-impact news

FXIFY's current FAQ says news trading is not restricted on its 1, 2 and 3 Phase accounts, although it warns about volatility, spreads, slippage and improper risk management.

The Lightning and Instant Funding programs are different.

Can you trade NFP with FXIFY?

If you are using a standard 1, 2 or 3 Phase account, yes.

FXIFY currently says those accounts allow traders to trade news without restriction.

So a trader using a standard evaluation does not need to avoid CPI, NFP or FOMC simply because the release is high impact.

But there is a very important caveat:

Do not assume that rule applies to every FXIFY account.

The Lightning account is different

FXIFY Lightning has a specific news restriction.

The current program information says news trading is restricted 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after high-impact events.

Holding an existing position through the event is allowed, but opening or closing trades during the restricted window is not.

The restriction also applies to orders, including Stop Loss and Take Profit. Profits made during the restricted window are not counted.

That creates a very different experience from the regular 1, 2 and 3 Phase accounts.

Example: You are long GBPUSD before NFP

Suppose you are using a Lightning account.

You open GBPUSD 20 minutes before NFP.

NFP arrives.

GBPUSD spikes.

Your Take Profit triggers 2 minutes after the release.

You might think:

"I opened before the restriction, so the trade is fine."

But the current Lightning rules also restrict closing and order activity during the news window.

So the timing of the exit matters too.

This is exactly the sort of detail that gets missed when a trader reads a generic sentence saying:

"FXIFY allows news trading."

Instant Funding is different again

FXIFY's current Instant Funding and Instant Funding Lite rules also restrict news trading around high-impact events.

For Instant Funding Lite, for example, trades cannot be opened or closed within 5 minutes before or after high-impact economic news.

FXIFY's current programme comparison also identifies both Instant Funding Standard and Instant Funding Lite as programmes with news restrictions.

So a trader choosing FXIFY partly because of its news policy needs to choose the right account type, not just the right firm.

Why the program matters so much

Imagine two traders.

Trader A buys a 2 Phase FXIFY account.

Trader B buys Lightning.

They both trade EURUSD.

They both see NFP.

Trader A's program allows news trading without restriction.

Trader B's program has a restricted window around the release.

The firms are the same.

The market is the same.

The event is the same.

The rules are different.

That is why this article should not simply say:

"FXIFY allows news trading."

The better answer is:

FXIFY allows unrestricted news trading on its standard 1, 2 and 3 Phase programmes, but Lightning and Instant Funding accounts have specific restrictions around high-impact releases.

That is the useful answer.

FXIFY also prohibits high-leverage news trading

There is another layer.

FXIFY explicitly prohibits high leverage news trading.

It describes this as placing large, leveraged positions just before or during major economic news releases to profit from sudden volatility.

FXIFY says this type of behaviour can result in account termination and voided profits.

That is particularly important because:

"News trading is allowed"

does not mean:

"Anything goes during news."

A trader using sensible directional exposure is one thing.

A trader putting enormous leverage on just before NFP in the hope that one spike pays for several failed accounts is something very different.

So what does FXIFY actually allow?

For the standard 1, 2 and 3 Phase accounts, news trading is allowed.

But FXIFY still expects traders to use appropriate risk management and warns about:

  • wider spreads

  • slippage

  • lower liquidity

  • rapid price movement

  • excessive risk around news

That is an important distinction.

Permission is not the same as protection.

Why slippage can matter more than the direction

Imagine you correctly predict that EURUSD will rise after a major release.

You are right.

But the market jumps so quickly that your order fills significantly above the level you expected.

You were directionally correct.

The execution was still poor.

This is one of the realities of trading major economic events.

You can be right about the news and still get a bad trade.

That is why FXIFY specifically warns traders about volatility, spreads and slippage during news.

But understanding the release matters too

Suppose you are trading gold during CPI.

The number is released.

Gold jumps.

You can see the candle.

But the obvious question is:

What actually drove that move?

Was inflation above or below expectations?

What happened to the dollar?

What happened to Treasury yields?

What changed in rate expectations?

Did silver move as well?

Was the initial move sustained?

Did the market reverse?

These questions are more useful than simply knowing:

"CPI was released."

The candle is the starting point

Imagine XAUUSD is trading around a key technical level.

Then a major release hits.

The candle breaks through the level.

A technical trader might immediately focus on the breakout.

But they may also want to know:

Was the move supported by the wider market?

Did the dollar confirm it?

Did yields confirm it?

Was there a second headline?

Did the reaction reverse?

That is where fundamental context becomes useful alongside technical analysis.

Echelon is a natural fit for this exact question

Echelon gives the trader a way to start from the move and investigate the context around it.

The starting point is not:

"Tell me what to trade."

It is:

"Why did price move here?"

You can investigate the relevant context around a specific candle and then look across related markets and news to see what changed.

That makes the product particularly relevant to the FXIFY trader who is already using technical analysis but wants to understand the fundamental context behind a large move.

What about holding news trades?

For the standard 1, 2 and 3 Phase accounts, FXIFY does not impose a news-trading restriction according to its current FAQ.

That means holding through major releases is permitted.

But the firm still warns about the risks associated with the conditions around the release.

Lightning is different.

Holding positions through the event is allowed, but opening or closing around the restricted five-minute window is not.

That distinction should be made very clearly in any comparison.

What about Instant Funding Lite?

The current Instant Funding Lite information is particularly clear:

News trading is not allowed within the five minutes before or five minutes after high-impact news.

The programme also has additional restrictions such as manual trading only and no weekend holding.

So a trader specifically looking for an account to trade major releases needs to be very careful when choosing between FXIFY programmes.

The firm's overall reputation for allowing news trading does not automatically transfer to every account.

A practical FXIFY news workflow

First, identify the program

Do this before researching anything else.

Then check whether that program allows unrestricted news trading

The standard 1, 2 and 3 Phase programmes currently do. Lightning and Instant Funding do not.

If news is restricted, know the full window

Do not assume that only opening a trade matters.

Closing and order execution can also be restricted.

Do not confuse permission with unlimited risk

FXIFY explicitly prohibits high-leverage news trading designed around major releases.

After the event, investigate the market reaction

The announcement tells you what happened in the calendar.

The candle tells you what happened in price.

The fundamental context helps connect the two.

Final thoughts

FXIFY is a particularly good example of why a prop-firm news article needs to do more than answer:

"Does this firm allow news trading?"

The better question is:

"Which FXIFY programme allows the kind of news trading I actually want to do?"

Standard 1 Phase, 2 Phase and 3 Phase accounts currently allow unrestricted news trading.

Lightning has a restricted window.

Instant Funding has a restricted window.

High-leverage news trading is prohibited.

So the right account matters just as much as the right firm.

And after you have figured out what the rules allow, there is a completely separate question worth asking:

Why did the market move when the news hit?

That is where news trading turns into actual market research.
